Primary purpose and function of position:

Oversee and manage the daily delivery operations.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage, lead, motivate and develop department personnel including selection, performance evaluations and employee relations
  • Effectively manage both union and non-union employees
  • Plan and schedule manpower (drivers, casuals & helpers) to meet the demands of the following day's deliveries
  • Direct and supervise delivery personnel including daily instruction, route planning, route assignment, training, discipline, payroll, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal motor carrier regulations, Department of Transportation, Occupational Safety and Health Administration compliance and Alcohol Beverage Commission regulations
  • Coordinate routing of drivers and scheduling of trucks as needed
  • Communicate and coordinate activities with other Department Managers/Supervisors on a regular basis that affect the Delivery Department
  • Direct responsibilities for managing budget and expenses
  • Oversight and enforcement of all Company safety rules
  • Conduct accident investigations
  • Responsible for labor/employee relations. Maintain department standard operating procedures and ensure union compliance and participate in worker's compensation claims
  • Respond, investigate and resolve all Retailer delivery questions/issues
  • Conduct analysis on Delivery Department metrics including finished product loss and productivity
  • Participate in grievance proceedings and workers compensations claims when necessary
  • Ensure compliance with all legal guidelines, policies, Wholesales Equity Agreement and Ambassador of Excellence
  • Adhere to all Federal, State, and Local Liquor regulations
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 3 years operations management experience
  • Labor relations experience preferred
  • Strong analytical problem solving and critical thinking skills with strong attention to detail
  • Highly organized with ability to manage priorities and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to safely operate job related equipment
  • Knowledge of local, state and federal liquor laws
  • Knowledge of safety, environmental and Department of Transportation requirements
  • Professionalism and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills including effective presentation skills
  • Strong leadership and influence skills
  • Strong internal and external customer orientation
  • Highly self-motivated and positive attitude
  • Technology proficiency; including MS Office, VIP preferred
  • Regular and reliable attendance required
  • Valid driver license and safe driving record
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and some holidays as needed
  • Ability to pass a required pre-employment background and drug screening
  • Ability to perform all essential job functions and duties as assigned
